Time to change the behavior of the unaware!

Reinforcement and punishment pic

Punisher: Any stimulus or event that functions to decrease the likelihood of the behavior that led to it

    • Positive punishment and negative punishment

Reinforcer: Any stimulus or event that functions to increase the likelihood of the behavior that led to it; more effective than punishment in promoting learning

    • Positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement

If the stimulus is not given to those who act in wrongful behavior, the behavior is thought to be OK and it continues.

Grow a set and give the actor the stimulus they need to change their behavior!

Don’t be afraid to dish out stimulus!

Bias: Distorting influences of present knowledge, beliefs, and feelings on recollection of previous experiences

  • Consistency bias: Tendency to reconstruct the past to fit the present
  • Change bias: Tendency to exaggerate differences between what we feel or believe now and what we felt or believed in the past
  • Egocentric bias: Tendency to exaggerate the change between present and past in order to make ourselves look good in retrospect

I get it, it is was your memory and you were the one who experienced it, but it isn’t what really happened. Try and focus on what really happened and you will be a better person!

To recall the truth you must be willing to tell the truth, a truth that may not be what you want to recall.

Units of Language

Units of language

A sentence—the largest unit of language—can be broken down into progressively smaller units: phrases, morphemes, and phonemes. In all languages, phonemes and morphemes form words, which can be combined into phrases and ultimately into sentences.

Yes, I understand shit is coming out of your mouth, but please don’t confuse your ability to speak as an understanding of what is being said. I get it, your Broca’s area is working just fine, but your Wernicke’s area has no idea of what what is being said. Please take a moment and shut your mouth and try and understand for once that your ability is not to the highest of standards.

It is with utter amazement that these area of the brain were discovered in 1861 & 1871, which in itself is why it is so dam interesting.

Self conceptSelf-concept: a person’s explicit knowledge of his or her own behaviors, traits, and other personal characteristics

  • Self-narrative is the story we tell about ourselves.
  • Self-narratives and trait self-concepts don’t always match up.
  • Self-verification: the tendency to seek evidence to confirm the self-concept

Look deep within yourself and find who you are, do not rely on the words of others to confirm what you may already know.

It is very common for people to pull traits from others and pretend to be something they are not. Then without any reservations tell the story of their life (fairy Tale).

Clasical conditioning

Classical conditioning theory involves learning a new behavior via the process of association. In simple terms two stimuli are linked together to produce a new learned response in a person or animal.
